Created the year he moved to a new villa at Le Cannet, this painting is one of the numerous interior views painted by the artist at that time. Discovering each corner, working from different viewpoints, Bonnard worked to capture the specific magic of the place. He followed a personal pictorial approach, concentrating on the instant itself and the construction of a mental space where the present seems eternal.
