Exhibition catalogue Gino Severini (1883-1966) Futuriste et néoclassique

This catalogue accompanies the exhibition Gino Severini (1883-1966), Futurist and Neo-Classicist at the Musée National de l'Orangerie until 25 July 2011.

Gino Severini was without doubt the most French of Italian artists. For half a century he was the living symbol of the artistic exchanges between Italy and France that continue even today. "The towns I am most fond of are Cortone and Paris - I was born physically in the first and both intellectually and spiritually in the second."

In order to look at this artist's development, who played a significant role in the artistic creation of the first half of the 20th Century, the exhibition presents some stages in his career: Divisionism, from 1905 to 1910, Futurism, from 1911 to 1915, Cubism, from 1916 to 1919, a return to the figure from 1920 to 1943.
