Galeries nationales (Grand Palais, Champs Elysées)
The major cultural events programmed by the Réunion des musées nationaux (RMN) in the Galeries nationales are based on a broad and generous vision of art history. Exhibits include monographs of artists, major artistic movements, fine art retrospectives, thematic exhibitions, an open approach to the 20th century, and to all forms of sculpture and creative uses of materials, and all civilisations.
For the last 40 years, the Galeries nationales have been the historic venue for major exhibitions. Nearly 50 major shows have been staged in an area of nearly 57,000 square feet in collaboration with leading French and foreign museums!
The RMN is responsible for programming and producing all the events in the Galeries nationales, publishing catalogues and related reference works, catering to visitors' needs and running the galleries as a commercial venture.
The Galeries nationales also organise conferences, readings, screenings of documentary films and fictions based on exhibition themes, and tours and workshops for children.
