At the heart of the historic town of Lyon, in a magnificent building dating from the XVII century that used to be a Benedictine convent originating from the 7th century. Le Musée des Beaux Arts of Lyon contains one of the most important collections of Art work in Europe.
Five departments, separated into 70 exhibition halls, offer visitors an exceptional tour and it illustrates all of the significant domains of Art History: antiquities (Egypt, the near and far East, Greece and Italy), objects of Art (precious Arts, Art Deco), medal room, sculptures (from the middle ages up to the XIX century) and paintings (more than 700 paintings from the XIV century) by Veronese, Tintoretto, Rubens, Poussin, Delacroix, Géricault, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Gauguin, Matisse, Braque, Léger, Picasso…
