Musées Gadagne

There used to be a history museum at the Town Hall before 1852, which kept flags, town keys, weapons, medallions and marks, as well as the Rosaz collection (9,850 objects related to the modern and contemporary history of Lyon). Closed since 1857, the museum reopened in 1921 in the Gadagne hotel, bought by the town hall in 1902 to present the relics of the ancient Lyon jeopardized by town-planning work during the second half of the 19th century, and the objects given by the loaners of Tony Garnier’s urban exhibition (1914) and the Morel collection. In 1950, the historic collections of existing puppets were enhanced by State deposits, supplements for the international museum of puppets, in particular the Dor collection.
