Palais de la Porte Dorée - Aquarium tropical
Palais de la Porte Dorée - Tropical Aquarium
Over 5,000 animals (300 species of invertebrates), freshwater and marine fish can be seen at the tropical aquarium at Porte Dorée.
Built for the International Colonial Exhibition of 1931, the aquarium was designed to show the public the aquatic fauna of the French colonies. Renovation of the aquarium began in 1986 and its collections have been growing steadily ever
since (crocodiles, piranhas, sharks, clown fish…), to the delight and enlightenment of its visitors.
The Palais de la Porte Dorée, which houses the aquarium and the Cité Nationale de l’Histoire de l’Immigration, is an art
deco masterpiece and contributes to the beauty of the visit.
Its powerful design and exuberant interior and exterior decoration make it one of the most astonishing buildings in the
capital.
