The prestigious painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics and plan-relief collections of the museum of Fine-arts of Lille are hosted in a sumptuous building from the late 19th century and was entirely renovated between 1991 and 1997.
Over 650 paintings are exhibited in a dozen rooms, organized by groups: Flemish, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and French schools. The world-renowned collection of the Palais des Beaux-Arts retells a complete survey of European art from the 16th to the 20th century, with two strong points: the collection of Flemish paintings (Rubens and his pupils) and the collection of French paintings from the 19th century (David, Delacroix, Géricault, Corot, Courbet…).
Since 1998, museum of Fine-Arts of Lille regularly comes back in the limelight of the cultural actuality, thanks to its temporary exhibitions: Goya, Berthe Morisot, and recently Rubens.
