Marie-Antoinette

This is the reproduction of a Marie Antoinette bust.

Whether bust, medallion, in the form of allegories, with her husband or her children, Marie-Antoinette was the subject of many objects stated in registers but which disappeared with the Revolution.

This object is an idealized portrait of the queen instead of the evocation of a sovereign at the height of her power as evoked by Boizot’s model. The head is slightly turned to the right, the shoulders are covered with a fabric tied for a natural effect, she is wearing a diadem decorated with lily flower and settled by a row of pearls.
Every detail reflects the royalist iconography, which implies that, although the exact creation date is unknown, the bust was probably made during Restoration.
