Casting statues involves reproducing a pre-existing statue by taking an imprint of the original work. Through various techniques, a negative imprint--a mould--is obtained, which is then used to create reproductions of the statue.

Ancient Egypt is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. The Antiquities Department ot the Louvre Museum exhibits relics from the different civilizations that succeeded one another on the banks of the Nile, from the end of prehistory around 4,000 B.C., to the Christian period starting in the fourth century A.D.
