Picasso by Picasso Self-portraits 1894-1972-(FRA)
Everything has been said and written about Picasso's work, but no one has yet dared to study all of his self-portraits, perhaps because this painter has always left a lot of doubt about his work. Throughout his life, from his first self-portrait in 1894 (when he was 13 years old) to his last in 1972 (a year before his death), he never stopped representing himself. On a sketch, at the bottom of a letter or on a canvas, Picasso by Picasso might not look like Picasso.
But Pascal Bonafoux guides us in order to allow us to approach the mystery of this extraordinary artist as closely as possible and to offer us the fruit of a long, well-documented and brilliant research work initiated over 40 years ago.
