Louis XIV Monogram Brooch
The monogram is composed of the initial letter of a name, doubled and interlaced in a single character, as here the letter L of Louis. It is accepted that the monogram is a royal signature.
Everywhere, the decor of Versailles mixes the royal emblems: double L, the royal crown, the scepter and the hand of justice.
This monogram is found on the woodwork of the King's apartments, on the stairs.
