French Cockade Cufflinks
The tricolour cockade appeared during the French Revolution. At first only blue and red as shown in the many paintings of this period, it was La Fayette who added white - the colour of royalty - to the cockade he gave to Louis XVI in 1789. Until 1812, the order of colours was not yet fixed and white was often outside, before a military regulation established the order we know today.
