Harper's Bazaar - First fashion magazine - Exhibition catalogue
Harper's Bazaar, founded in 1867 in the United States, is the oldest existing fashion magazine. It is famous for the essential contributions of its editors, Carmel Snow and Diana Vreeland, and for the modernity of the layouts designed by Alexey Brodovitch, art director from the 1930s to the 1950s.
Many renowned illustrators collaborated on Harper's Bazaar, Léon Bakst, Erté, Cassandre, who were succeeded in the 1950s by the greatest names in fashion photography, Richard Avedon, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Melvin Sokolsky, Hiro, and more recently Peter Lindbergh and Patrick Demarchelier.
