This book recounts the many links between the impressionist style, centred on light, and the Pont-Aven school, which is committed to simplifying shapes and colours, by reproducing a hundred major works, often unpublished and from prestigious collections, such as the Musée d'Orsay, partner of the book.
In addition to Gauguin, Schuffenecker, Charles Laval and Emile Bernard, there are artists who pursue Monet's work in Brittany in their own way: Henry Moret, Maxime Maufra, Gustave Loiseau, Ferdinand Loyen du Puigaudeau, artists much appreciated by the great Anglo-Saxon and foreign collections of the early 20th century.
