This is the exhibition catalogue about the exhibition Looking for owners at Musée d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme, Paris until 28 Sept.
In 1997, the direction des musées de France organized a display of the MNRs-art objects that had been returned from Germany to France after World War II and placed in the custody of five prestigious Paris museums, the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée National d'Art moderne ( the Georges Pompidou Centre), the Musée de la Céramique de Sèvres and the Château de Versailles. In museums in the provinces, works of the origin where especiallly drawn to the attentions of visitors.
In 2008, thanks to the generosity of the Israel Museum and the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme in Paris, an exhibition was held in Jerusalem and Paris on the subject of the MNR works. This was a genuine exhibition and not a mere show since the research undretaken had by now enabled us to know and understand far more clearly the route travelled by these works.
