FRENCH LANGUAGE
The work brings together all of Rodin's known carvings, about 110, of which only three drawings seem to have been exhibited during his lifetime. To this can be added other earlier drawings of the same compositional scheme present in the Rodin Museum collection, but also watercolours, retouched photographs, sculptures and even works of art from the Rodin collection (antique or Japanese masks, Japanese paper cut-outs, works by artist friends that were given to Rodin) that use the same plastic means of cutting. The work opens up to other artists who, in the 20th century, also created paper cut-outs, such as Henri Matisse, Georges Braque or Pablo Picasso.
