Founder of the Ecole de Nancy, Emile Gallé is one of the main artist in the French Art Nouveau movement.In 1877, he succeeded his father, owner of a faience and crystal manufacture. To create his pieces, he developed new techniques, included the way to ornate glass with email. He took inspiration in nature and also in japanese art, who was the focus of the third Paris World's Fair (Exposition universelle de 1878).
