Notre-Dame from the sky. A meditation by Pope Francis
This beautiful book presents a text by Pope Francis on Our Lady and offers a journey among the photographs "seen from the sky", punctuated by Pope Francis' meditation on Mary, to which the cathedral is dedicated. Its beauty makes sense, the power of the building inspires Christian unity and the maternal figure inspires comfort and generosity.
After the historic fire of Notre-Dame de Paris, the cathedral's face will never again be the same as it was until April 16, 2019. The spire, the roof and hundreds of works have forever ceased to be objects of the admiration that these architectural jewels have aroused for centuries. Le Pèlerin magazine had published a special edition featuring a hundred exclusive photographs of Notre-Dame.
Stéphane Compoint's photographic work, based on a balloon, had made it possible to discover perspectives and inaccessible works of art. Nowadays, these "seen from the sky" images make it possible to preserve intact the memory of the treasures that did not resist the flames, revived by texts of a deep spiritual significance.
