By what miracle can a centuries-old culture thousands of kilometres away touch and come into contact with a more recent one? What kind of soil makes it possible to communicate in this way through the ages? Ananda Devi at the Musée des Confluences has experienced such a link.
During her almost fortuitous encounter with the remains of a Koban burial site and a pre-Columbian mummy, she immediately felt attracted to these two women whose fragile existence she strives to weave into an astonishing mirror game with her own trajectory as a woman and artist. Composing a magnificent life song in which she pays homage to these diverse and often constrained destinies, Ananda Devi underlines their astonishing convergence, questions the notion of otherness and recalls the cruciality of creation, its transmission and contemplation as a source of understanding of the world and those around us.
