"The artist's task remains unchanged: to depict man."
Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980) was associated with the Viennese cultural scene from an early age, where he was regarded as a enfant terrible both for his lively and colourful painting and for his literary works. To capture thoughts through the line and to be in the expression of the living are the missions that he assigned to his art and as such he was one of the main representatives of expressionism. In 1937, the Nazi regime exhibited eight of his works at the Degenerate Art exhibition.
