Beaux Arts Special Edition / 20 Years of Collection Enrichment Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac
While the Musée du Quai Branly opened its doors in 2006, it has pursued an unprecedented acquisition policy since 1998, in order to complete and enrich the collections inherited from the MNAAO and the Musée de l'Homme, which have been in existence for over three centuries. In 20 years, 77,082 works have been acquired!
Through an unprecedented exhibition, the museum intends to reveal the backstage of the institution and the acquisition process, from the reflection of curators to the arrival of the works in the museum's collections and their exhibition. It is an opportunity to highlight the quality and diversity of the collections acquired during this period, as well as the human and subjective aspects behind the acquisition process. The exhibition develops a new discourse on the constitution of knowledge around the collections.
Exhibition at the musée du Quai Branly, from 24 September 2019 to 26 January 2020
