Beaux Arts Special Edition / Leonardo da Vinci's Saint Jerome, an unfinished masterpiece - The Clos Lucé
This exceptional, unfinished work, which is Leonardo da Vinci's Saint Jerome, is on loan from the Vatican Museum to the master's last home, the Clos Lucé.
The Vatican curators shed light on the circumstances of the painting's birth and its incredible journey before it was acquired by the pope in the 19th century. But many mysteries still surround the masterpiece: Who commissioned it? Why did Leonardo da Vinci abandon it? The life of Saint Jerome, author of the Vulgate, the Latin version of the Bible, has fascinated many painters.
It is their vision of Saint Jerome that Beaux Arts Editions offers here. It is also an opportunity to visit the Château du Clos Lucé, where Francis I visited the great Italian Renaissance genius many times.
Exhibition at the Clos Lucé, from 10 June to 20 September 2022
