Beaux Arts Special Edition / United States of Abstraction. American Artists in France, 1946-1964
The exhibition tells the story of the post-war stay in Paris of young American artists, those who were to conquer the world, the attraction of Paris, the idea of living there freely, of meeting the greatest European artists such as Fernand Léger or Ossip Zadkine.
Beaux Arts Éditions draws up a vast fresco of the life in Paris of the great American artists who would supplant art from Europe for a long time to come, of the movements that would blossom and of the key works that would forever mark the art of the 20th century. The exhibition brings together major works by some thirty painters, sculptors and draughtsmen at the Musée d'Arts de Nantes and the Musée Fabre in Montpellier.
