Vivian Maier - Revue DADA No 257
What if Mary Poppins had been a photographer? Here is an artist with an extraordinary destiny: throughout her life, Vivian Maier (1926-2009) was a nanny and a governess, between New York and Chicago. But secretly, she was a compulsive photographer. She never showed her photographs, and it was only after her death that a hunter discovered more than 100,000 photographs of exceptional quality. They tell us about America from the 1950s to the 1990s, its greatness but also its outcasts, taken on the spot.
Vivian Maier is now recognized as one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century.
Exhibition "Vivian Maier" at the musée du Luxembourg from 15 September 2021 to 16 January 2022.
