Here better than in front - Laurence Aëgerter
It is by revealing the other side of reality in a gesture of reappropriation that Laurence Aëgerter, a visual artist born in 1972 in Marseille, constructs her stories. The appropriation of this protean material - dictionaries, history books, images from archives or gleaned from the internet, art objects, museums - acts on her imagination and opens the way to a number of experiments: photographs, artists' books, in situ installations, tapestries, collaborative projects. The other, a true alter-ego, plays a major role in the elaboration of his work.
This monograph is published on the occasion of the exhibition event organised at the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris from October 2020. It will be followed by an exhibition in Amsterdam at the Museum of Psychiatry and an exhibition at the Musée Réattu in Arles in 2021.
