Josephine Necklace
This glass bead jewel is inspired by the necklace worn by Empress Josephine on a portrait painted by Firmin Massot (1766-1849) around 1812.
The Empress was passionate about jewellery and owned several sets of pearls and precious stones, mainly purchased from her private purse. Few have survived, as her daughter, Queen Hortense, sold almost all of them.
