Sator Silver Pendant
The Sator is a magic square, composed of the words SATOR, AREPO, TENET, OPERA, ROTAS.
Their juxtaposition, in the order indicated, gives rise to a palindrome, i.e. a word that can be read in all the directions of the square. Its meaning remains an enigma.
The Sator of Pompeii are the oldest ever found, engraved on a column of the house of Publius Paquio Proculus, and on a column of the Palestra Grande.
Handcrafted reproduction by Francesco Pavan, Italian goldsmith specializing in ancient Roman art.
