A priori, everything seems to oppose them. And yet... Since Antiquity, the art world has been fascinated by the world of sport. Just think of all those perfectly proportioned Greco-Roman statues. Their model? The bodies of athletes! Over the centuries, artists will document in their works the appearance of new disciplines, such as tennis (palm game), then take advantage of being able to paint outdoors to capture sailing regattas and other horse races. The avant-gardes then became passionate about the representation of movement, and contemporary artists today question sporting icons. The flame is not about to go out between art and sport!
