The exhibition on the art and culture of the Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity) in Germany is the first comprehensive overview of this artistic movement in France. In addition to painting and photography, the project brings together architecture, design, film, theatre, literature and music.
The multidisciplinary exhibition is structured in eight thematic sections, which correspond to the socio-cultural groups and categories created by August Sander.
Photographer August Sander's masterpiece Men of the 20th Century takes a cross-section of interwar society as its main motif. As an "exhibition within an exhibition", the two perspectives together provide a broad overview of German art of the late 1920s.
