WRITTEN IN FRENCH
The retrospective dedicated in 2023 by the Centre Pompidou-Metz in Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938) continued in 2025 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, in an enriched version of new loans and archives. Raised in a bohemian environment, surrounded by artists such as Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec or Puvis de Chavannes, of which she is the muse, friend of Degas, Suzanne Valadon, a free-spirited and transgressive painter, is also one of the few women to assert herself on the artistic scene of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This special edition, which accompanies the exhibition, returns to the life and unconventional work of an artist whose audacity led to the transgrressing of bourgeois shackles and moral injunctions.
