The Heart Sutra, Prajñaparamita Hridaya or Hannya Shingyo in Japanese, is one of the most important texts in Mahayana Buddhism. Its full Sanskrit title can be translated as The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom. It formulates the doctrine of emptiness and is recited daily in Buddhist temples in Japan.
