The Summer Olympic games that will take place in Paris in 2024 are the opportunity, for Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition through a series celebrating Sport, its values and the athletes. In 2023, we are developing a collection of medallions representing the 26 letters of the Alphabet illustrated by 26 Olympic and Paralympic sports.
The second combat sport to be included in the Paralympic Games, 33 years after para judo, para taekwondo made its debut in Tokyo in 2020. In its Paralympic version, called "kyorugi", para taekwondo is only for athletes with upper limb disabilities. The bouts take place in three two-minute rounds with a one-minute rest period.
