Barbara Hepworth - Exhibition catalogue
Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) is one of the greatest female sculptors of the 20th century. She is part of this generation of artists (Arp, Calder, Gabo, Mondrian...) who, in the aftermath of the First World War, reinvented art between abstraction and figuration, in a humanistic and universal approach of profound form renewal. In close collaboration with the Tate, the Rodin Museum invites you to a new (re)discovery of the brilliant career of this singular artist who invented a most original poetics, close to abstract art but strongly inspired by nature.
From marble to bronze, plaster to wood, Barbara Hepworth has always been able to vary materials and textures with a fertile inspiration. Paintings, drawings and engravings, evocation of the studio, documents and archival photographs illustrate the artist's sensitive and fascinating universe, a true alchemy between landscape, interior world and material.
Exhibition "Barbara Hepworth", at the Rodin Museum from 5 November 2019 to 22 March 2020 in partnership with the Tate and with the support of the British Council and the British Embassy.
