The Yellow Cruise The great Citroën expedition 1931-1932
Rediscover the Yellow Cruise through the unpublished memories of the explorers of the time.
The Citroën Centre-Asia expedition is one of the most exceptional adventures of the 20th century. 42 courageous men, ready to face all the obstacles of nature, all the dangers, deliberately set out on a journey of more than 13,000 km between Beirut, Beijing and Saigon in a deeply troubled Central Asia. They thus went up the ancient Silk Road, crossing the high passes of the Karakorum in the Himalayas.
To tell the story of this expedition, Ariane Audouin-Dubreuil, who has been immersed in the family archives for the past thirty years, had to write with an alert and moving pen. It recounts the human adventure, the technical achievements, the important archaeological, artistic, ethnographic and geological work carried out by the members of the mission. Thanks to advances in modern reproduction techniques, unpublished documents are now being highlighted in a new version of this grandiose epic.
Ariane Audouin-Dubreuil shares with the reader precious facsimiles of photos, cards, letters, reports or secret reports. Enter the intimacy of these adventurers from another time!
