On the occasion of the bicentenary of the Emperor's death, the National Museum of the Châteaux of Malmaison and Bois-Préau is showing the many faces of Napoleon Bonaparte through a hundred works.
Whether realistic, idealised or invented, all these portraits are powerful images of political communication. Curators, art historians, historians and forensic scientists combine their skills to unravel the mystery of Napoleon's true face.
