Colin Maillard Tote bag - Toile de jouy
The history of the toile de Jouy begins at the end of the XVIᵉ century, when Portuguese, English or Dutch sailors imported cotton canvases painted in bright colours to the old continent.
In France, it was developed in the workshops of the factory founded by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf in 1760 in Jouy-en-Josas. A revolution for the time that favoured linen, wool or silk.
