In this book, Michel Macary retraces the Grand Louvre project (1981-1993) promoted by President François Mitterrand, as soon as he was elected, in order to make the modern museum open to the city and accessible to the greatest number of visitors.
Michel Macary, associate architect of Ieoh Ming Pei, to whom the project was entrusted, was in charge of the design of the Richelieu wing, where the French sculptures are displayed.
Through his richly illustrated testimony and numerous anecdotes, including the "scandal" caused by the pyramid in the political and cultural world at the beginning of the project, he evokes eleven years of work and friendships, allowing us to take a fresh look at one of the most ambitious architectural projects in Paris.
