This Archer necklace is made from a jade ring decorated with an inlay decoration of gold threads and precious stones mounted in a bat. This type of assembly is characteristic of the work of Ottoman silversmiths.
The oblong shape of the ring tells us about its function: in order to protect their thumb from the friction of the rope, archers wore similar rings. The polished outer part provided the necessary protective surface.
Not all these rings were intended to be used, some of them being only ornamental. They were part of the ceremonial dress and marked the social rank of their owner.
