Chaï, masala chaï, or masala tea, is a spice-based decoction drunk in all regions of India. The cup of chaï is a sign of welcome there. The use of spices is very common in Ayurvedic medicine, the age-old science developed in India based on all aspects of the human being (from the most abstract aspects such as the soul to the most concrete and physical aspects such as the body).
In Terre Exotique's Detox Chaï, we find :
Ceylon cinnamon: a universal remedy, cinnamon is a warming and expectorant spice which in Ayurveda provides its benefits against winter ailments, digestive problems, joint and dental pain).
Ginger: this spice has the same beneficial properties as cinnamon. Ginger is also a good physical and mental stimulant, without being a stimulant.
Fennel is a good stomach and intestinal tonic. It also has diuretic and anaesthetic properties.
Green anise is effective in the treatment of digestive disorders and helps to combat general fatigue.
Liquorice: aids digestion and stimulates the immune system.
