This pin's is published on the occasion of the exhibition "Napoleon", commemorating the bicentenary of the death of Napoleon, Grande Halle de la Villette from 14 April 2021 to 19 September
Associated with military victories since Antiquity, Jupiter's eagle perched on a lightning bolt was first the emblem of Imperial Rome and then that of the first Empire. In imitation of the insignia of the Roman armies, Napoleon topped his regiments' flagstaffs with an eagle, also the traditional symbol of heraldry.
