Skateboards triptych Jean-Michel Basquiat Irony of a Negro Policeman - The Skateroom
These maple wood skates features the work of Basquiat "Irony of a Negro Policeman".
Before Basquiat rose to become one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, his work was already legendary on the streets of downtown NYC. Under the tag SAMO, his poetic and poignant symbols established a visual vocabulary that continues to inspire new generations of graffiti artists to this day. Needless to say, we are very happy with the final results and we hope we've made him proud.
The skate can also be used as a decorative object, hung on a wall, or to skate by adding wheels.
The Skateroom collaborates with the greatest contemporary artists to create democratically priced art editions on the flagship medium of counter-culture: skateboarding. They are also the originators of a social initiative, and donate part of their income to the NGO "Skateistan", which gives children and young people access to education and skate programmes in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa.
