Rodin in his time
The master sculptor Auguste Rodin became one of the tutelary figures of modernity at the approach of the twentieth century. The new forms of artistic expression that emerged in the late nineteenth century broke with the academic tradition of Romanticism.
Rodin was part of this creative ferment, but he was also fascinatingly unlike any other artist working at the time.
Through his writings and correspondence, this documentary takes a fresh look at Rodin's life and work and plunges us into the social, political, cultural and artistic backdrop against which this towering genius created his sculptures.
Astrophysicist and art historian, Claire Duguet joined the prestigious Louis Lumière School before working a long side Agnès Varda and Titouan Lamazou. Today she produces documentaries, such as "Godard-Truffaut: a screenplay of a rupture" recently broadcast on France5.
