Necklace Olympia
Musée d'Orsay Jewellery Collection
This pendant is inspired by the work L'Oympia, painted by Edouard Manet (1832-1883) in 1863. In the painting, Monet's favourite model, Victorine Meurent, wears this baroque pearl drop on a black velvet ribbon around her neck.
Hung in the hollow of her neck like a good-luck charm, the pendant highlights the model's luminous fair complexion.
