A member of the De Stijl group, Piet Mondrian is best known for his abstract paintings with pure lines and red, yellow and blue squares. The Marmottan Monet Museum is dedicating an exhibition event to him in September 2019 and is focusing on his major figurative work.
About sixty first-rate paintings, selected by Mondrian himself around 1920 for his greatest collector Solomon B. Slijper, are presented exclusively in Paris and reveal this unknown face of the artist. Landscapes, portraits, flower paintings marked by impressionism, luminism, fauves and symbolism face rare cubist and neo-plasticist compositions and place the artist among the first colourists of his time and among the great masters of 20th century figurative painting. An invitation to discover another Mondrian.
Exhibition at the Marmottan Monet Museum from 12 September 2019 to 26 January 2020.
