The symbols of ancient Egypt in mythology and hieroglyphic writing had great social, religious, cultural and communicative significance: they describe daily life, death, love, social relationships and power. The term hieroglyph derives from the Greek and means "engraved sacred signs", as these symbols were usually engraved in stone as monumental writing, for example on temples, and thus assumed a sacred value.
