Original and timeless, the work of Julia Margaret Cameron, produced in barely a decade, between 1864 and 1875, represents one of the most beautiful illustrations of the epic breath of the beginnings of photography. Celebrated in her time for her close-up portraits, both admired and criticized for her taste for slightly blurred focus, Cameron saw in each of her images "the embodiment of a prayer".
This work presents more than a hundred of his photographs, from his first experiments to his allegorical compositions, or of literary or historical inspiration with several characters, including an impressive gallery of portraits of his contemporaries.
