A true celebration of snow, this box set, accompanied by an explanatory booklet, displays in an accordion format more than sixty works by the greatest masters of Japanese prints . Imbued with poetry and refinement, these images bear witness to the astonishing pictorial virtuosity of artists such as Hokusai, Hiroshige, Harunobu and Hasui, who knew how to transcribe the immaculate whiteness of the snow in its most subtle nuances, but also highlight this challenge: painting the absence of color. Mountain villages buried in snow, temples and pagodas in the padded solitude of winter, eternal snow on the summit of Fuji... so many views which invite us, in accordance with the very conception of ukiyo-e, to experience only the present moment, to devote ourselves entirely to the contemplation of nature.
