Touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight... These six tapestries, woven around 1500, represent the five senses. There remains the sixth sense, commented by the inscription "A mon seul désir". Without excluding a meaning in the register of courteous love, it could mean free will: the woman with a dressed headdress and sought-after clothes renounces temporal pleasures.
These "millefleurs" tapestries are characterized by an abundant flora and are populated by a peaceful bestiary (monkey, dogs, rabbits, heron). In this paradisiacal nature that invites contemplation, the unicorn is sometimes an actress and sometimes a spectator. On each stage, it bears the coat of arms of the Le Viste family.
