This passport holder is hot stamped with an emblem of the Royal Court gate. The royal gate, located between the courtyard of Honour and the royal court of the Château de Versailles, was built during the reign of Louis XIV by Jules Hardouin-Mansart around 1680. It was deposited between 1771 and 1793, in the last years of the reign of Louis XV and returned in 2008.
