Or like that of the mother of the painter Maurice Utrillo... But Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938) is at the origin of a work of art in her own right, and what a work! Self-taught, inspired by the artists for whom she posed, she gradually forged an original style, on the fringe of the movements of her time.
Numerous portraits with marked lines, some still lifes and landscapes as well, but above all nudes screaming with truth, very rare at the time under a woman's brush. Her work is a reflection of her life, which was lived in a spirit of freedom.
